Some Kind of Fairytale

After reading comments from lovely bloggers AllyMugdha and Becca, I realized something. I have yet to update all of you on the guy I had mentioned herehere, and here. If you don't feel like reading through all of those blog posts, here is a brief rundown on what I am talking about:

From September 2010 to March 2011, I was enrolled in a psychology class. In that psychology class, was a really cute guy who just so happened to be intelligent and witty too. The perfect package? I think yes! I knew I had to talk to him. Flash forward to the last day of class. He was still oblivious of my existence. Big time FAIL. I told myself that if I didn't explicitly ask him out within the week, I would never get another chance. That was enough of an incentive for me to compose an email confessing everything I had on my mind and hit the 'send' button the minute I finished. I got a response the next day... with favorable words. We met for coffee, chatted for 5 hours, and to my surprise, he asked me if I wanted to hang out again. I was beyond ecstatic!!

Since that first coffee date, we have gone on many other dates (one of which, I wore the outfit you see in the pictures), and even met each other's parents. He and I have so much in common, it's a little ridiculous. We are two peas in a pod.

So, what is the current status between you two, you may ask? We are officially dating! I can't help but to smile, knowing how I made this happen for myself. I don't partake in acts of boldness very often or even at all, which leads me to believe that with a little perseverance, anyone is capable of anything. I hope my story was able to inspire you to go for what you want and SPEAK NOW [Sorry, I just had to make a Taylor Swift reference :)].

I'd Lie

Confession #439: Up until now, I have never referred to any guy as my "boyfriend". The main reason for this is my fear of getting burned after investing too much of myself into a relationship, and well, making the mistake of expecting too much reciprocation, too soon.

Just recently, I came to realize that there is no point in doing as I have. As my wise-beyond-her-years roommate would say, "No matter what, you're going to get hurt, so you might as well give it your all." I couldn't agree with her more; not because of selfish reasons, but because the person on the other end of your relationship deserves it.

Fab Five

{fact: contrary to popular belief, there are, indeed, guys who will take the time to notice little things, such as a girl's nail polish}

As some of you may know, I have been slacking in making posts for this month. That said, I decided to make a "five things" post, as it will be the best way to summarize what I have been up to as of late.

1. My current favorite nail polish color: Conquistadorable Color by OPI
2. My current favorite outfit: top via Urban Outfitters, tank via Pac Sun, jeggings via Nordstrom Rack
3. My secret weapon for pretty hands and feet.
4. The new purse I got for my birthday!
5. The landscape I get to see and admire everyday.

{fact: a guy will never be too critical when it comes to what you wear around them, because more likely than not, they will assume that you know much more about the world of fashion than they do and trust that you know what you are doing}

Pretty Baby

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend/Easter Sunday! I spent most of Saturday and Sunday catching up with old friends and watching movies with my family. Here is this week's list for MUSIC MONDAY. You guys have my roommate to thank for all of the nostalgic, girly music.

1. 'Pretty Baby' Vanessa Carlton
2. 'Breathe' Michelle Branch
3. 'You Were Meant For Me' Jewel
4. 'What I Like About You' Lillix
5. 'Where Does The Good Go' Tegan and Sara

As some of you may know, I have an obsession with nail polish. Whenever I am out, I'm always looking for inspiration on how I should paint my nails next. This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday with one of my good friends that I have known since middle school by going bar hopping! We ended up running into one of my roommate's friends, who is always extremely trendy. Here is what her nails looked like that night. What a great inspiration for Spring!

P.S., Click here for a humorous interview with a hand model (my roommate found this video a few months ago, and we couldn't stop laughing after watching it).

In The Trench

I have a confession to make. As a fashion blogger, I feel as though I am expected to dress well. That expectation is somewhat easy to live up to, since I enjoy putting together outfits that reflect my personal style. However, there are times where I slack and don't have any proper excuses to explain why. Someone who doesn't slack, though, is my mom. My parents came to visit me at school this weekend, and I was lucky enough to take a few snapshots of her outfit-of-the-day.

According to my roommate, for decades, the trench coat been a classic staple item for many women. It serves as the perfect light weight jacket to wear during those rainy days of April, as well as the sunny days that arrive in the preceding months.

F21 Do's and Don'ts

You are at the mall, and are in search of some good deals. What store does your inner fashion self naturally gravitate towards? Forever 21, of course! As college students, my friends and I are often looking to this store when it comes to saving money. However, all too often, the items we were once so excited to purchase, show their true colors after several washes and wears. By true colors, I mean... they fall apart. Whether it is a small tear or a deformity, having your clothes damaged (when they are fairly new) is no fun.

My roommate found this article on the front page of Yahoo! yesterday. It explains what you should/shouldn't purchase from Forever 21. I'm hoping these wise words will serve as a useful guide for your next visit to the mall! Expect to save both money, and feeling disappointed from now on.

Busy Bee

So, it's been over a week since my last post, and I feel terrible. Life has been keeping me extremely busy lately. I know that isn't much of an excuse, but I just want you all to know that I haven't abandoned this blog. It'll take a lot more than just a busy life to get rid of me! :)

Here is what I have been up to lately:
-I turned 22 this week!
-School... 2 more months until graduation!
-I never thought I would be saying this, but... I have a social life now!
-There's a guy in my life.
--yeah, that's pretty much it. Not the most extensive list, but these things are surely suckin' up all my time (in a good way, of course!)

I hope things are going great for all of you. I wanted to thank everyone for the sweet comments that were left on my last post. The kindness that I receive from the Blogger community never ceases to amaze me.

For A Reason

I've been told numerous times in my life that "everything happens for a reason." Up until now, I have been pretty annoyed (and that is an understatement) with the concept. Mainly because, when something bad happens, understanding and accepting it is the last thing I want/am able to do. I think this holds true for a lot of people.

As I look back on past relationships (and why they didn't work out), academic decisions, and other major events in my life, what didn't make sense then, makes a whole lot of sense now. Many things have happened to me this school year. A brief rundown of the negative things: I was rejected from half of the graduate schools I applied to, one of my best friends and I are no longer friends (at least that's what it feels like), and there was a point in time where I was extremely depressed. As for the positive things (these happened more recently): I was accepted to my #1 choice for graduate school, I am slowly coming to terms with the death of my first pet, I started seeing an amazing guy who treats me with more kindness and respect than I deserve (he is even interested in learning more about Taylor Swift!), I reached 175+ friends on my blog, I learned how to be more open with people, I grew up (sorta), and currently, I am the happiest I have been in a long time.

I know that I will encounter moments in the future that I will yet again, not be able to wrap my head around, but for now, I'll just sit back, and appreciate how things fell into place. So, for those of you who are confused as to why certain things are happening to you, all I can say is: for now, enjoy the ride. Seek the positive things in your life, embrace them, and just know that you will understand if not most, all the reasons as to why things happened the way they did, in the future. It will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end.

I love you guys. Thank you for all of the support and sweet comments.

The concept of kindness has always blown my mind. More so, kindness that comes from other people in the most unexpected situations. I interviewed for a graduate program earlier this week, and it didn't turn out to be like the typical interview session I had pictured. I found myself surrounded with a large group of amazing individuals who, like me, had a passion for helping others. As typical as "a passion for helping others" sounds, these people took it to a whole other level. The day could have easily turned into a competitive mess. However, personally, I felt warmth, compassion, and integrity woven throughout the aura of the room. I feel humble in knowing that there are so many people out there with such genuine character. This day reminded me a lot of the blogging world, because all of you guys, without a doubt, fit this description as well.

Speaking of kindness, about a month ago I entered a contest held by Chanel of Chanel Craves, and won! She so kindly shipped to me the prize, which was a China Glaze shatter nail polish. I've always wanted a nail polish like this, and now, well, I finally own one! Thank you so much, Chanel! If you guys get a chance, please go visit her page. She has an amazing fashion sense.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!
