Sheer Genius

One of my all-time favorite trends is lace. This delicately textured fabric never fails to add a touch of femininity to even the grungiest of outfits. I am happy to say that after some not-so-extensive research, I discovered lace to be an expected returning trend for fall 2010.

Tutorial: How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

What you will need: baby shampoo ($2), a sink, and a washcloth/towel.

1. Run brush under sink to slightly dampen bristles.
2. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of baby shampoo onto your brush. Depending on the size of the brush, the amount of shampoo needed will vary. Remember, less is more. With my largest brush (Bare Minerals 'Kabuki' brush), I use a dime-sized amount of soap.
3. Work shampoo into bristles to create a light foam.
4. Rinse until water running off of bristles is clear.
5. Place brush on washcloth/towel to dry.

Be careful to avoid getting the part of the brush where the handle and bristles meet wet. This can cause the glue to wash away and as a result, the bristles will begin to fall out.

Jewelry: Basic Staples

A great way to save money is to purchase staple items. The term 'staple' ultimately defines a necessary, or basic item. When it comes to jewelry, I believe that there are 3 pieces every girl should own.

1. The statement necklace can turn any outfit from glum to glam.
2. The chain and pendant necklace is excellent for discretely adding a touch of sparkle to any outfit.
3. Pearls can give your outfit a classy vibe with little effort. Opt for faux pearls to save $!

A hairstyle that has never failed me, even on a bad hair day, is the ponytail. Whether it is with bangs, a bow, or to the side, this hair style is guaranteed to be fail-proof.
