I've been wanting a pair of kitty loafers for a while now, but couldn't find a pair that supported my budget. So, yesterday, I summoned up my very crafty friend, K, and headed to Target and Michael's. It must have been a lucky day or something, because I ended up getting the last pair of black loafers at Target... in my size, and on sale! Here is a breakdown of the money I ended up saving, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to replicate these beauties.
  • Mossimo loafers via Target: $15.31, Gold fabric glitter+paint pen: $7.00, Total spent: $22.31
  • Charlotte Olympia Kitty Loafers (the exact ones Taylor Swift has!): $695.00
  • $695.00 - $22.31 = $672.69+ saved!

TOOLS: black loafers, scissors, gold fabric glitter glue, gold glitter paint pen (for fabric), painter's tape, and a hot glue gun

INSTRUCTIONS:
Ears 1. Make two ears by cutting into the "tongue" of the loafer. TIP: Begin by cutting the ears wider than you actually want, in case you make a mistake. You can take more off, but you can't add more on.
2. Using the gold paint pen, draw two small triangles on the inside of the ears to define them.
Eyes 3. Cut two cat-eye shapes out of painter's tape for each shoe. Place the cut-outs on both shoes. TIP: Make the shapes smaller than what you want the actual eyes to be, because you will be drawing around them.
4. Using the gold paint pen, outline the painter's tape cut-outs with small dots.
Nose 5. Using the leftover fabric from when you cut out the ears, cut out two triangles. Color each nose with the gold paint pen. When the paint has dried, cover each nose with several coats of gold glitter glue.
6. Hot glue each nose on to its designated shoe.
Mouth and Whiskers 7. Using the gold paint pen and the images below for guidance, draw out the nose and mouth with dots. You may need to go over the dots 2-3 times with the paint pen.

TIP: A Black Sharpie can be used to cover up any scuffs on black suede loafers.

Red

Yesterday morning, Taylor Swift posted a photo on Instagram with a caption stating that there were only 9 days until the release of her newest album, RED. In celebration of the last lull before my iTunes begins to blow up with repeats of '22', 'State of Grace', 'I Almost Do', and other songs from the album, I  put on two fresh coats of my newest shade of red nail polish, 'Rekha' by Zoya, and topped off the look with three nail jewels.

Eight days to go!

Denim for Days

Denim has been one of my favorite things to experiment with this fall. Whether it is denim with polka dot patterns, unique colors (found here), or your classic blue jeans (found here), the fun of mixing and matching different styles has made accepting the cold weather a little easier.

TIP #726: Throw on a pair of tall boots with any pair of jeans to complete your fall look.

Nail Tutorial: You Belong With Me

Secret #320: When I'm in the car alone, I sing really loudly to Taylor Swift songs, and pretend I'm in concert with her. One of my all-time favorite songs of hers that I often sing to is You Belong With Me.
Secret #832 (not really a secret): I enjoy using nail art as a creative outlet.

What do you get when you combine Secret #320 and not-so-secret #832? A nail tutorial for You Belong With Me!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Dark blue nail polish, gold glitter polish, silver glitter polish, painter's tape (I ran out, so I had to use packaging tape instead. I do not recommend doing this.)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Paint your nails blue.
2. Once the blue polish has dried, using two small pieces of tape, make an X on the nail you want the design to be on, leaving room at the bottom for the glitter triangle.
3. Paint several coats of glitter polish on to the part of your nail that is not covered with tape.
4. After the glitter polish has dried, peel off the tape and finish the design with a top coat.

All Polished Up

I'm lucky to have friends that love nail polish just as much as me. As mentioned in a previous post, this past weekend, my friends E, K, and I got together to celebrate E's birthday. One of the many things we did was have a Nail Party. We've had one before, and similar to last time, we all brought our nail polish collections, as well as ideas from Pinterest. After about an hour of thinking and painting, we came out with two cat manicures, and a rainbow one. Happy Birthday, E!

Fabulous Felines

If you haven't already noticed, I've been posting quite a bit about cats lately. There really isn't a real reason for this, besides the fact that they've been my favorite animal since before I can remember. Cats are graceful, independent, and sassy-- what more could you ask for in a pet?

In celebration of my (and possibly your) long-time love for cats, here are a few fashionable pieces dedicated to them:

1. 'Diego' Cat Pillow, Urban Outfitters $19
2. Multi Zip Cat Clutch Bag, ASOS $21 SALE
3. Cooperative Conversational Print Scarf, Urban Outfitters $24
4. Feline Karma Dress, Anthropologie $80 SALE
5. Cat Eye Sunglasses, Forever 21 $5.80
6. Kitty Flats, Charlotte Olympia $595 --Pro: they're the exact ones Taylor Swift has. Con: They're a splurge!
7. Cat Stud Earring, Betsey Johnson, GAP $30
8. Cat Bracelet, Topshop $20
